This was my first "legal" driver. A 54 Dodge I bought when I was 16 in 1988. It was a stock hemi grandma car that I turned into a mild custom. I shaved all the excess chrome & handles, frenched 54 merc headlight rims & 51 Ford taillights. It was my only car for almost 5 years.

Some real nice pics here, obviously a few four door lovers out there. Anyone want to make a comment on why they've been shunned for so long, why they're so much cheaper? Anyone?

They are so much cheaper because they were shunned...and the only thing I can figure on the shunning thing is that they were always thought of as family rides...personaly I'm glad!
It let's po bastards like me enjoy the hobbie I love...;)

P.S. Dart, All those rides have some serious potential...any of them ever finished??

Do you own a junk yard or something?

Four doors usually lack the styling of coupes or two door sedans, but they still can be cool.......

I'm glad Hatch posted about this car. It's a '39 4dr Deluxe if memory serves me. When I met him he actrually had a car to build. He had the chassis done and a BBC to put in. When he decided to sell it I tried to get my son to take on the project. he wasn't situated so he could take it on so it went to another buyer. Hatch submitted his idea for the build to Rod and Custom when they asked for project ideas. His was picked to feature in the magazine and they had Daryl Mayhab do a concept picture for the feature.. It was one of the coolest ideas I've ever seen for a family cruiser. They gave Hatch the origional artwork from the article so he still has some inspiration if he ever decides to get his butt in gear and build it. Motorcycles have seemed to take over at his place, but if he doesn't build this car it will be a shame.

  27. Some nice cars on here for sure. I must say, I'd like my wife's 62 a ton better if it was a 2-door, but 4 doors make hauling the 3 kids around easier...

    I've always wanted to build a 32 4-door. I'd rather have a 32 4door than a 3 window or a roadster. I don't really like 32's unless they are 4 doors for some reason....
