Wow,i share birthday with Big Daddy!

I first saw him run at Riverside in '60, he cleaned clock that day on us California guys, and continued to do it...think of it, flatheads, Bonneville, street rods, the Museum, the tour to England, the tour to Vietnam (lots of guys forgot that, but we vets never did!), the records, the innovation, the championships, the injuries he survived, there is no end to the list of his accomplishments...a well-deserved HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

 

Hands down, my all time Drag Racing racer and innovator hero...A true American hero!!!
We all owe a "tip of the hat" to this guy!!! AMAZING!!!

PS...a few(a bunch) years back, I had a chance to talk to Don's mom at the museum.......what a trip!!!..........ud

I remember seeing him at Bakerfields when he ran his first rear engine rail, sent him a picture of it and he said that it was real HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Any man with enough courage to openly talk about such taboo subjects as UFOs, extraterrestrial life, and most controversial of all, one's belief in the viability of the monostrut wing is a hero in my book... He is a pioneer who the drag racing history books will put at the forefront of innovation and endurance... Happy Birthday "Big"!!...
