I spent the lunch hour yesterday cleaning up my license plate, adding some chrome hardware, pop-riviting the original metal tag and just admiring the COOLNESS of this original Oregon State license plate. It was originally stamped and tagged in 1955 as a "classic or historical" plate for older vehicles. The first week I owned the car, 8 months or so ago, I searched the planet for a unique plate that was period correct and had a theme, something like 155-XYZ or WAG-123. I was searching through license plate vendors, craigslist and ebay looking for letters or numbers that might be cool and found this on Ebay. Because it was produced in 1955, the DMV allowed it to be registered FOREVER to my 1955 210 wagon! . . 8 months ago: . A few weeks ago:
Love it! What DMV did you go to? Some of them let you do cool stuff like this, others just hate their lived and just won't do anything for ya.
Yes , just one on a classic. I have found all of the rural DMV's are alot more helpfull, especially when you contact Salem first and get the skinny from the main office.
Wow... good find. I love it! <--- look at my avitar. Dad came across this at an antique store years back. Works well on his 55.
Yes, cool plate. We in Vermont use only one plate for old cars too. Here is some pics of my son-in-laws 55 150 Wagon. Color is close to yours. http://s1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd488/c-dudley1/55 Chevy wagon/
