I knew about the waldorf nomad vette. But i have never seen this one until today, and I thought it was worth sharing. It's such an awesome concept! And the name Corvair came from the CORVette and the bel AIR. I never knew that either.

Yes, I've seen this and the others many times before.

The 'Vette is uber-cool, but my favorites are still the Lincoln "Futura", the Dodge Dart-Diablo, and, the not-listed-but-shoulda-been-along-with-the-LeSabre, the XP-300 that was built as the Charles Chayne "companion piece" to, and at the same time as, the LeSabre:

I'd have to agree that that Corvette is one of the best looking concept cars ever drawn up.

it is an awesome concept car. And the rest are pretty friggen cool. I just thought this was fitting, seeing as how today is the 58th anniversary of the first production corvette rolling off the line in Flint, Michigan.

And even thou it's not a GM built car, just shown at the GM exibit, I really like the '54 PininFarina Cadillac roadster.

  13. Maybe HAMB member WaldorfNomad will chime in.
He's got info on that car.

You've never seen the Corvette Corvair before?! Have you been living under a rock? That has always been one of my 2 favorite Corvette concept cars (the other being the Corvette Nomad). Too bad Chevy didn't produce that Corvette back then (of course the fastback Vette came out 9 years later) because along with the Nomad, that fastback is beautiful timeless styling.

I guess you are one of the younger members. too bad . I never actually saw any of the General Motors - Motorama cars either . I however saw in later years pictures and I collect all the liturature , books etc on these cars . I also took the time to do one of my favorites , the L'Unversalle G M C van in 1956.

A professional diver told me NO ONE has seen the Norseman since it sank with the Andrea Doria. He searched for it during some of his dives and never found a trace of it. Its body would have corroded by now - no hope of saving it. It also may have been crushed by falling items when the Doria listed to starboard prior to sinking.

I know its a Corvette, but nowadays the BMW Z4 coupe looks a bit like it around the rear roof line and trunk "lid" area.

Well, it certainly foreshadowed the "63 Vette didn't it?
