I don't know - it's got the Fitch roof extension and front/rear spoilers with heavier suspension that typically came on the Sprints, but I don't know if it's an authentic sprint. Not many people even know who Fitch is, good eye!

Before & after pics of my 1st high school car, a '64 Corvair coupe in 1982. Got totaled when a fullsize Chevy van ran a red light while I was passing through an intersection, he hit the passenger side front fender hard enough to spin the car 90 degrees.

You can see how the front end was one big crumple zone. Every panel was dented or pushed out of shape somehow except for the driver's door. The roof was even tweaked, windshield was starting to pop out. I had a seatbelt on, and didn't get a scratch.

If you supply the raw material i'll be MORE than happy to be the one that turns it into reality.

Corvette bumpers: that was the plan for my 'Vair.
    I even did a Photoshop.
    Then I priced the bumpers.
Each one cost more than I paid for the whole car!

  10. ^^^Cool car, everything but the whitewalls. I'm not a fan of whitewalls on a drag car. Everything else on that car is cool, though.

They don't bother me. The whole concept of a front-engine Corvair is more about a wild street car than a true competition machine (previous discussions indicate that it wouldn't fit into a class where it would be competitive). On this car, the whitewalls and shiney paint just play into the street-machine theme.

  21. i love corvairs, why I love them? cause there cool and old, and even the nicest drivers rarely see a 5k price tag, so broke joes like me can afford em....

    A good story.

One club member bought a Corvair for the drivetrain to swap it into a '53 Ford Sedan.

Another Club member, Dan, decided the clean body couldn't go to scrap. After a straight axle find at a local swap, the build was on. Dan started the Corvair "Nader Hater" Gasser project. He's not an online guy but did send thee cell phone shots. He started the project in October. He found an S-10 with a 350 and trans for the swap. A few pieces from Speedway, swap meets and the steel yard and he's almost ready fo fire it up. He has been squirreled away for the last month finishing the car. Better photo's and the final stance will be posted.

First weekend and lots of cut off wheels and saw blades-

    After LOTS of sheetmetal/metal work-

The firewall is complete as of now, but not in this photo-

    Sorry for the small photos.

Beau, that 'Vair gasser is awesome. I am a little confused by the idea of an air-cooled flat six in a '53 Ford, though. Eek.

    Not sure which is scarier:
The price tag on the 'Vair
    or
The expression on the guy in the hoodie!
    :D

My friend pulled the beat down Ford from a farm. It was a destroyed 4 door. He welded all the doors shut, cut the top off, gutted the doors and put an S-10 front end on the frame. It's going to be a jump in, frame dragging tin can. By putting the engine in the back he doesn't need to run a radiator, driveshaft or exhaust under the floor pan.

    It's an odd project indeed.

I'll get more photos of the "Nader Hater" Corvair Gasser soon.

  30. We were behind him in line at the Mooneyes Christmas Show. I had no idea he was asking so much for it..
