I got this car today and I always wonder where these old Hotrods have been hiding.
This one came from around Grand Forks BC, does anyone know this car or any history on it.
I feel pretty lucky to get this one.
I want to thank Ric "duenorth", I was the first one he called when he got it.
    Thanks Ric

  4. I just love the channelled Deuces; sometimes I think I'm the only one! I lived in Grand Forks 30 years ago I guess I missed that one. Just looking in the background of your photos makes me drool!!!;)

I think I would pick up the phone and call Mr. Mannering. He would probably be very very surprised that his old rod is still around.

X2..boy that was quick ID, even for hamb...

Those trim rings in that pic;..

Coincidence... I was wondering about the stainless steel, wide trim rings that I bought at a swap in Nov, and then saw the same kind on Bleeds Little Red Truck.. There was discussion on what old aftermarket they were

So, I ask a very elderly car guy that was here today to ID mine..He blurted out quickly "47 plymouth"

Look at the pic of a 47 that I found on google an hour ago, then compare the old hotrod pic. Note the raised bead around the valve stem opening that both cars seem to have.

I guess the aftermarkets had no raised hole at the stem..maybe

long ramble but I was just trying to find out what the low buck guys used back then. Ya know, tradition, history, :)

Here's the only Richard Mannering that comes up in 50 states on an internet search.
Born in 1934, that places him in his mid 20's in the photo. The old fellow is 78. Might make his day hearing that his old Hot Rod is still in one pretty solid piece and is destined to rise again.

Has to be the the same car. Just look at the picture.

  25. Too darn cool for words. Hope you're able to make contact with the owner, see what he ran in it and start your grocery list. Do you think you try to put it back to the way the man in the pictures built it? Sure would be nice.
Man, I love those ol' sedans!

  26. Way Cool !!!
I love old Hot Rods with some traceable history .
    Congrats!

Sorry guys, nothing in the background is for sale, its what I call Yard Art, LOL

I have about 3 cars on the go now, so I dont really have any plans for the sedan, but when the time comes, I will leave it the way it is, just make it safe to drive. I really like the look of it, very cool.

  29. I think the Mr. Mannering he is looking for was from the Vancouver area of British Columbia. Nice find Kelly. Another early Vancouver rod found. Pat
