Some old race photos

I came across some old racing photos of my grandfather and thought I would share them with you guys. He raced motorcycles back in the day and then raced in pre- early nascar days. It's just too bad he isn't around anymore; I'm sure that he could have shown me more that a thing or two about old cars.


anybody know what the 97 cars is?

 

The 97 car looks like a 37 Ford coupe with the center bar cut out of the rear window. Note the hood ornament/hood handle up front.

 

Nice pics ... mid fifties?

 

I not sure the exact era of the photos; I would guess mid 50's. I'll have to ask my dad. He knows a lot more about my granddad's racing history and the different years/ cars. He has been tracing it back.

Cool pics! They remind me of the old circle track that Dorney Park had in Allentown.

 

Racers back in the day were stupid tough. You had to be to race without cages or using sewer pipe for oll bars. Those the were the days though, when men were men and women were women. (A damn fine system iof you ask me)
