I am 61 know and for the first time, I need to correct my hearing. I thought you guys could give some advice. I have tried out the Resound Future units sold by Costco; wore them in the store for about 1/2 hour. They were comfortable and I was able to speak with my wife without having to read lips but a toddler screaming was really intense! I wonder if those could be tuned to help that or another brand would have that feature. Any help is appreciated.

But not until you have chopped, channeled and pinstriped the hearing aid.

Some of the units have noise cancelling capabilities, maybe consulting a hearing specialist would be beneficial...I hate Docs too, but sometimes they can provide good solutions to problems you think you just have to live with...

  7. Sadly, I am not even that old, but already have a hard time hearing. The cause of mine is tinnitus, so there isn't a hearing aid for that as far as I understand.

I think that Willy301 is on track. It may cost more to go to someone that specializes in this sort of thing, but that is better have them help you select the correct one the first time than buying several models on your own to get the one that is 'right' for you.

    Best of luck.

The better hearing units cost a bundle. See a hearing specialist. My Mother and Mother-N-Law use hearing aids. The one I bought for her was $2500. The main complaint was, it doesn't sound natural and you hear everything. There is a volume control though.
