What is the average weight of a T-bucket with a Small Block Ford or Chevy engine. Trying to gather some info for my next project.
Mine is 2,000 lbs. with a steel body, 305, 350 trans, steel wheels, 16 guage floor and driveshaft tunnel, and a frame way overdone with 2x4 3/16" box. I could have built it at 2,500# easy, but I get carried away with safety.
Ah, yes, the Peter Beater. Under 1,500 pounds, a cool little rod! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=330525&highlight=peterbeater
Mine is 1840 with a 350/350 9 inch, glass body steel wheels with bias plys. 960 front and 880 rear, 80 lbs off 50/50 weight distribution.
1350 lbs, but mine is short (94" wheelbase) and has a 4.3L Chevy V6 and T5 which is a lot lighter than the usual sbc/th350.
Mine is 1,880 with a steel body, and 305. Had to sit in it while it was on the scales to get it over 2k lbs so they could get their equipment to print. They couldn't get anything to print under 2k lbs. My fat-ass got it WELL over that 2k limit.
The one in my avatar is 1900 and change. However, '31 banger engine and '39 tranny probably weigh more than a SBC.
one of my old ones weighed in at 1236. Aluminum 215, aluminum powerglide, chromemoly tube frame, fiberglass body, franklin qc, with (at the time) state of the art Motor Wheel Flys. Single seat, center steer, and every bracket, pedal, gusset and flat surface were drilled with lightening holes. Turned out not that practical in the real world. Bumps and RR tracks tended to send it airborn if I hit them at any normal speed.
Thanks for the input. I am looking to use the Speedway '27 frame with a leaf spring hung 9" rear end to build a Street/Strip Tall T. I'll do a Build up on it as soon as I get things rolling. Wasn't there a company down south making a Fiberglass '26-'27 chopped T-Coupe????? Anyone remember who it was?
91 inch WB A frame. banjo. 283. T-5. 'glass. minimal interior. 35 wires. 1740# with 5 gal gas in the tank.
