The Model A "Stop" tail light makes a great 3rd brakelight - had that on my last '40 GMC.......... You can get repro's with real glass lenses.

Worst of it for me is under the gas tank. 56 years of shit accumulated underneath the tank and the metal's gettin thin with a few see-through areas. Also the back of the cab above the gravel guards is bubbled up pretty bad. I'll hit those 3 spots before it goes back on the frame and fix everything else while I enjoy the truck again.

    Havnt posted in a while....

Mooneyes was a big success! Almost didnt make it out because of carb issues, but got it dialed in and it ran like a champ. I got some finned valve covers because I was sick of the cheap lookin covers that were on it. Other than that no real updates....just drivin the shit out of it. Heres some pics....

I got the flip kit for the rear! Just gotta c-notch the frame and get new wheels made for the back.

But before I do any of that I gotta rebuild the carb. It took a dump.....

Nice, Im in Foothill Ranch. We're pretty much neighbors haha.

  18. How are things going with the springs. I was under the impression you should take out every other spring. not all the small ones it keeps the rigidity of the springs to stop the axle from wanting to wrap. any issues? Whats the deal with the fuzzy bed? The build is going well, keep up the work!

I dont have any issues really. It only bottoms out every once and a while. And as for the bed, I got tired of looking at the ugly ply wood, so I covered it in ugly fuzzy crap, mostly because I was bored.

Every time I'm ready to start doing more work it breaks down, so I pretty much just have been collecting parts.

Just driving the shit out of it! Im gonna c-notch the frame and flip the rear axle soon-ish. And tomorrow I'm gonna get locks so I can worry a little less about taking it places.

taylor, measure from the top of your axle to the bottom of your frame, then measure from the top of your center pumpkin to the bottom of your bed wood. on my 57 if i would have c-notched the frame the pumpkin would have bottomed out on the bed wood before even coming close to entering the notch. i would have had to cut a hole in my wood bed for pumpkin clearance... i left it alone. just a thought...

Im running the mono leafs in the back, and I think it puts it a lot closer to the frame than the stock leaf pack. I definetly need it if I wanna flip the rear haha. Ill check it out though! Thanks!
