Found this pontiac station wagon sitting in a old junkyard. Anyone know what year it is. Is it worth digging out. I don't need it but I would like rescue it from the crusher. What problems areas should i look for?
If you love the car and want a project that will enhance your life, go for it! The car will not be worth the money that you will invest in it, but you can conciter the money spent, for all the time you will enjoy, well spent. It is not necessary to make it a 100 point car, a good safe driver is now well respected.
It's a '53 Pontiac...........look closely at the grille bars and how they turn down and outward vs how the '52 pictured turns down and inward. Ray
Its a 53-54, 52 and earlier had split windshields. Too bad its in GA, I could use a lot of the parts. I am looking for a rear bumper, rear window latch, and the roof and doors, for when I lower my roof, and many more parts.
Second one is a 1960...I have one similar...first one is a '52-'54...body is too round for a '55...'55 shares the look of a '55 Chevy. Guess digging it out depends on how bad you want it and how bad it's rusted. R-
It's not a '54 grille.....they have a single bar that runs the full width of the opening with an elongated "fishmouth" (horizontally) with a thin bar set in the opening. The '54s were very popular in a variety of customs in the late '50s and '60s, especially in shoebox ford and '49/'50 mercs. Ray
60 wagon!!!! DAMN! why are all good ones 2000-5000 miles away from me?? i would love to have another wagon...
Absolutely, positively, a 1953 Pontiac. You can tell by the grille, waterfall, and turn signal bezels. In my opinion, totally worth digging out. But then I'm really partial to 1953 Pontiacs. If you don't buy it, sell me the headlight rings off it!!!
get em both if you can and flip them or let their locations out to others so they can be saved or used for parts.
If anyone is interested in a Pontiac wagon project, have about a dozen of them - '59, '60, '61, '62,'63, '64, '67, '69, '72, '74, '76, '77 all full size. Also have '77 and '79 Lemans wagons. here is a link for craigs https://post.craigslist.org/manage/2760589603
Late to the thread, but agree, '53. We had a persimmon '54 Convertible back in the early 60s. Cool cars
