found these cars in a ditch in my neck of the woods. Found them on accident just after thanksgiving. It was rainy and dark back roads cruising. I didn't have my camera, my phone was all but dead. I went back with my 5year old step son took pics.
Most of these are just bodies. frames have been yanked. tags look to be around 68, 69. what a shame!
56 chevy hard top. hood is crunched, so is trunk lid ok tag says 68 or 69.. Look a the floor pans! hardly any rust. there's a nash, a stude, 53 ford 2dr post, that 56 hard top, a 55 hard top rusted to nothing. 57 chevy wagon. 49 chevy fleet line 4dr. 59chevy 4dr hard top

I think the 57stw has some parts to use still. back top gate not the best but could be used in between. back seat complete, and the spare tire carrier is not rusted at all. floors are really good in it too even after I pulled that branch and leaves back

Looks like they may with been river bank blockers..They used to use old crashed cars stacked along the river banks to help with erosion..and give stability.

yep. but that 56 had no damage going in there. whats crunched on it is how it was put in there. complete car, body wise other than the door. I guess a 56 hard top wasn't worth much back in 68. hard to imagine a 12 year old car getting that treatment.???? Most in this creek don't appear wrecked.

  10. 12 years was an average life for a car then. Hell it still is.

Stuff like this is why they have battery operated sawzalls, repro tin is expensive -

I would go cut the floors out of that 56! Amazing how clean they look.

I have seen the same thing in a few places near Quincy, IL. The cars were mashed into the sides of the creek to stop erosion. Sad.

....and why do people always throw these things in a creek?! This wasn't for erosion control, they just threw them in a creek! I'm no tree hugger, but that just illustrates idiocy and pisses me off.

another view of the 56 floor. Here's the trunk of the 55 hardtop that's severed. I do think the parts to get list should be
    56 floors, dash,
57 wagon, floors, spare tire holder, top tailgate and back seat.

I got a friend with a tow truck but I think we'd tear up any salvageable parts trying to get them out. cut and leave there.

I think you are talking of the old shop teacher? He pulled up to me at the car wash in nov when I was cleaning up the 65 pontiac on the trailer. He's working on a 60 chevy wagon. I didn't know he had a "stash" though.
these cars were just outside my hometown of ponca city

It's a good thing those cars aren't in West Virginia , that floor section would be on the way to my dad's garage , he needs that floor section like a dead man needs a casket , and that wagon would be on the way to my garage , I have a factory A/C , tinted glass , P/S P/B posi-trac wagon that I would love to scrounge parts from for my wagon...

Nice finds, hope you are able to salvage some of that. Interesting that they are just bodies and no frames/ suspension.

It looks like the 56 and 57 Chevys are worth getting the entire bodies out of there. Maybe bolt some good sized wooden skids to the undersides of them...Flip them right side up, and drag them out. Dents are alot easier to fix than rust.

I've seen old frames in wrecking yards and always wondered where the rest was.
