What is the best way to correct this problem but retain the stock appearing light/lense? Yes, I did a search, but no dice!

  2. Switch to 12v? I have a set on my '34 and they are pretty bright.

Make sure you have a good ground to the frame.I would solder a wire to the reflector and run that to the frame on both lights.

Are you running 6v or 12v?
How's the reflector glass surface? Shiny, faded or what?

I have halogen bulbs on 12 volts. Works well for me. The light is white vs. yellow, good for seeing but the yellow light from the regular bulbs have that cool look. I bought the bulbs from Brattons. I think most of the Mobel A suppliers have them.

I find this in some of my headlights and remove it.
    Its not needed,
Put a burr in your die grinder and clean out the sockets in the headlight bar.
Its amazing how much rust you will find. Clean the rust off the ball of the lights, then I used neverseize to coat the bare metal. That was 13 years ago and I still get a lot of remarks about how bright my lites are

I have to agree. Clean the socket & the headlight bar mounts. I have been running 6v 55/35 bulbs for years. With clean grounds they are as bright as a 12v bulb of the same.

  9. And make sure your charging system and battery are in top shape.
