J man, I am very impressed with this build. I love these fat fender fFords. I had a 42 and a 46 and had a great time with both. I wasn't brave enough to chop either of mine. You and your handsome young son look perfect in the car, enjoy my friend. Thanx for sharing your build with us. ~sololobo~

 

maybe im looking at this wrong, but are those motor mounts bolted to your heads? that seems like asking for trouble. just thinking about the stress on the head bolts, the torque staying correct, blowing threw head gaskets and having to prop up the motor to pull a head seeing as the head is holding the motor up?

i might be missing something but id rather have had said something then have you have some head bolts fail and have your bottom end laying on the ground under the car.

 

I was wondering what year and model Mercedes you used for the brake setup? I'm doing a '46 and you are making it soooo much easier. Thanks. John

the setup came from a mercedes W124 300 diesel.
but every mercedes setup from these years will work.

my rack and pignon (jaguar) is rebuild 'cause it was leaking oil
the plans are changed.
the shop of the guy who should help me with the chop is destoid in a fire including his car.so it's gone take a while before he can help me.
so I made some changes to the engine and keep on going with some bodywork and stuff.

the evenings are always to short for me.

Yes very sorrowful that he hade A fire in his shop. Lukely he still got lots of energie to rebuild the shop and Suburban.

Did you do the rebuild of the steering rack yourshelf? My rack is leaking also.

leaking of the jaguar steeringrack is very common.
I didn't rebuild it by myself. It's a very tricky job.

 

yesterday a friend of my and I made a fast photoshop to get some inspiration.

don't mind the mirrors and the decall on the door is just a example.

modifications:
some serious lowering
3.5inch chop
slanted doorposts
one piece window
lengted the front fenders a bit on the front
wide white wall's

what do you guys think ?

twan: the engine runs very good right now,I milled the heads 1mm and rebuild them.
are you going for a jag IRS under your pickup ? what about the airride ?

 

hey jurgen, yes a jag set up it is and i'm not sure if i build it on airride or do a static and go to the dmv (rdw) and then install the airride..

I'm searching for a year now on the net for chopped tudor's and found a lot of them.
a lot of them don't look right to me when chopped. some of them (like the blue one) look awsome.

 

What switch did you use with the wipers? John

 

I just used a universal switch and this wiring diagram.

this was the damage

a dent in the roof.
a dent in the panel behind the drivers door.
and a dent in the rear fender.

 

I did some bodywork and after that it looks like this.
I'm doing the final bodywork after the chop.
