Looking for some other ideas than stock taillights for a pickup project , so they got to mount and be acessable from the outside to change bulbs , going in a mid 60's chevy truck NOT WANTING TO USE THE STOCK TAILLIGHTS ! any suggestions?????
I also have been eyeballin', truck stops, Wal-Mart, you name it. I found some generic $10.00 trailer lights at Tractor Supply that may be my answer. On anouther idea I always wanted to do dual 3 light applications with sequential blinkers. Ideas are always flowing for my '53 chev pickup, Model "A" "STOP" lights, '49/'50 merc lights, etc. The Mustang, Vega, '59 Caddy and pinto lights were overused to me in the '70's and the "invisable" until applied taillights are too new and are hard to see as I almost ran into a roadster with the hidden lights, lucky for both of us I noticed his deceleration and the reducing distance between us. Let me know your final decision as I am not above copying an idea I like. Enjoy!!
Just a thought, maybe you can bastardise something out of this bastardisation. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=555032 Good luck Paul
These would look kinda cool in there, if you're build is going to be a custom type build?? Image barrowed from Toptinman, from his post on the Revolution thread.
What are these? I have been looking for a lens just like the round one there. Looks to be about 2.5"?
I am building a hot rod and want it to be different so I used 59 nash metropolitan tail lights never seen them in anything plus you can get them new

What about a pair of 53 or 56 Chevy car bullet tail lights stacked one above the other and frenched in so just a bit of the tip would show from the sides? The guy who bought my 51 Merc took the stacked Caddy bullets out an put in 56 Chev lenses because he felt that they filled the tubes that I had used to french the lights with better than the caddy lights I don't have a photo of it with the 56 lights but it looked damned good and outside of the lenses and sockets. Short lengths of the right size tubing and some flat sheet metal would be all you need to do the job.
You might spend some time in some of your big truck stops or go by a big rig dealership and check out their chrome shops. I've found they have a fairly large selection of lights that you might consider . I found these glass lenses with stainless trim at a local truck dealership accessory shop. I'm using them in the roll pan on my 55 F100. Drew
How about the 51-2 Buick same general shape but has the two little bullit titties in them. That would be a subtle look to it. http://www.billionsandtrillionsinc.com/pics/oem/pages/DSC06542.htm
I really like the shape of the Buick lenses, but they are about 3.5" in diameter, looking for the same shape but about an inch smaller. Yea, I know, I'm a picky sob.
