    Aloha H.A.M.B dudes / Dudette's.

I moved to Hawaii 20+ years ago from Stockholm Sweden.

My rides aren't really that old (H.A.M.B. old), But i LOVE OLD RACING stuff!
My rides have some billet here and there & you can't always be too picky building on a budget...
Hopefully, one day I'll trip on a project from the 20's - 30's?

Worked mostly on mechanical stuff. Body work skills improving...
Currently working on getting some paint on my Hilborn 70 Duster (quarter panel skin replacement and various cancer repairs) and a 73 Charger (Lot's 'o cancer fixed).
The Charger will get a Potvin-style crank-drive blower (6-71) setup in the future. Both are 340 engines.

Also have a 73 340 'Cuda project to tackle later.

    Glad to finally be on-line!
    Mahalo Tommy

    Yep.

It's a first generation Megasquirt (built it years ago) with a relay board...
    Fuel Only.
Wide Band O2, onboard MAP, MAT, IAT & TPS sensors.

All fuel pumps, lines etc used from E-Bay.
All non fuel plumbing is copper.

LOW BUDGET ~ $1,500 + Hilborn Manifold (bought it 10 years ago)

It idles and runs really good "out of the box".
I'm still in the tuning phase!

    More pictures in my album.

Nice looking installation! Which injectors did you use and how did you adapt them to the manifold?

    Mahalo!

I tried really hard to not mess with the manifold to much!

(I visitied the Hilborn Factory in CA years ago. Awesome guys gave me a tour of the facility and told me that only 100 340 setups was made and 25 of those was never sold and recycled (Melted))

    Injectors:
The Injectors are standard 36lbs Accell (Used on E-bay).
    Conversion:
There's a guys that sells injector conversion kits, small aluminum "funnells" that threads in to the original mechanical injector holes (I ran a "straight tap" through).
On the top is a aluminum hat from the same guy that accepts AN-3 - 1/8 NPT adapters.

The fuel comes through the original Hilborn hoses (like brand new) and they're connected to the original barell valve (locked full open).

    MAP connection.
On the bottom of the intake i had to drill a 3/32" hole in to each cylinder
each hav "pneumatic" brass reducer with soldered copper tubing for the MAP sensor. The Map sensor on Megasquirt is built in to the CPU.

Water connection is copper tubing with a "super charger" thermostat housing (from E-bay)

Throttle Position Sensor is from a FORD..i think (E-Bay).

    Temp Sensors:
I got the Temp Sensors from the Megasquirt site.
I had to drill a 1/4" hole in hte the rear Velocity Stack for the IAT.

    Megasquirt:
Kit Homebuilt from Bowling & Grippo - Megasquirt.

    Great tips Tommy, thanks.

I didn't have much luck with an internet search for the funnels or hats, so if you don't mind revealing your source, please post it.

    Thanks!

I got'em years ago...I'm pretty sure it was this guy...?
If he doesn't have them check with Alkydigger.

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/HILBORN-INJ...Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item3367c01ff8

The "funnels shown here have allen locks (they were too tall to fit between the stacks) so i got much shorter one without the allen locks.

My injectors are held down with ss locking wire and the injector clips.
    Show him this picture. (attached)

I paid ~$200 for a set of eight (16 hand machined pieces)...back then.

Thanks again! I was concerned that the plastic injector housings might not be strong enough to support themselves with just clips since most of the OEM setups trap them in place with fuel rails. Glad to know it can be done this way. I was also concerned that the adapters might affect the injector spray pattern, but if nobody is having problems doing it this way it must be OK.

The Steel Clip that snaps to the injector is plenty strong!
The top aluminum caps have a grove that clicks in to the clips...
I added a small plastic tie-wrap to be safe...(don't want them to pop out an spray fuel all over the place).

The Spray pattern may be slightly squeezed...But the engine doesn't seem to care...I sure beats cutting up the manifold!

Are you putting a fuel injection in the Allied or the Thames?
...NO MATTER! Two seriously COOL CARS...!

We called the Anglia / Thames "Hot Dog Stands" in Sweden...long time ago.

    Later!

    Thanks!

For now, my plan is to put a home-brew Hilborn EFI on the Thames. Since it is a good driving car, I hesitate to do too much since I have so many other projects to attend to just now.

I do have a Hilborn unit for the Cadillac engine that will be in the Allied, but I'm going to start by doing more of a concours restoration with the original 1950s fabricated intake manifold and 4 Carter sidedraft carbs. Maybe after I enter it in a few shows and get tired of the carbs I'll convert the Allied to EFI as well.

So I guess I'm not in any big rush just yet. I'm collecting information and parts as time and budget permits. This is kind of an educational/mental stimulation process for me.

A Thames might actually make a good hot dog stand! It is about the right size.
