Not my color choice, but that is one awesome looking car. ...very nice proportions and hood line, imho.
BuiltFerComfort hasn't got it quite correct: "Got 12 cylinders, I use 'em all, got Overdrive, never stalls... Got a 4 barrel carb, dual exhaust, 4 revvin' gears you can really get lost, Got safety tubes, but I ain't scared, the brakes are good, tires fair." Properly, it is: "Got 12 cylinders, 'n uses 'em all, with an overdrive that just won't stall. Four-barrel carb and dual exhaust with 4-11 gears that'll really get lost. Safety tubes, 'n I ain't scared, cuz the brakes are good and the tires are fair"
Hey guys, Here are some pics of the finished project!!!! She took "Best Overall Hot Rod" at the Detroit Autorama Extreme last weekend. Thanks to everyone that helped make it happen!!!!
Damn that is BAAADDD!!!!!!! I absolutely love it! The proportions are just right in everyway. I don't think I could change one thing about it! How bout' a video? Great Job! -Cody
I drooled over that car a bunch of times throughout the weekend..... AWESOME job !! Congratz on the win !!
Nice work and looks great. Just a passing comment, if your choice of cowl was a slant windshield version I feel it would look even better and blend better with the long hood lines. Just my 2 cents.
Great stance, neat engine and interesting choice of colours! Wouldnt personally picked those colours but I think they look great Congrats on the trophy!
The color works great, and that's also what is special about it. Seems like you can lose a car at some shows as you walk past endless rows of black and red cars.
I don't know how i missed this thread, but i saw the car at Autorama. It was my favorite, glad to see it won, it deserved to. Congrats.
I stopped by to look at this car more than a few times during the Autorama weekend... Congrats on the car and the award!
Absolutely beautiful car. Sounds REALLY cool too. Here's a few shots I took at the Autorama. Congrats on the awards, well deserved.
WOW, fantastic car, congrats on the award too. One question, are you getting tired of the song references yet? Scotty
I was checking out you car in Detroit last weekend, it's perfect one of my favorites of the show. I took pictures of your headliner/wood frame work. I plan on doing a similar deal in my ' 30 Tudor.
Cool ride. My little brother has built a cool v/12 '32 3 window. As to the "safety tubes" in the song, I think that is what they used to call roll bars...
The color is spot on, as is everything else. A very well thought out and built HotRod ! I'm thinking it sounds as good as it looks, congrats.
"Safety tubes" were in production around 1947 they were a double wall innertube that had some sort of 1 way valve between the inner and outer part of the tube, when fully inflated there was a gap of a couple inches around the inner and outer sections running over a nail or something would just allow a puncture of the outer chamber the inner would still support the vehicle long enough to safely pull of the road as the inner chamber would slowly loose air. At 58 I had the thrill of a high speed blow out only once in my life (I was 16 then)thank the Lord! at 70 on the interstate I had the right front blow I used all the road and some of both ditches before getting everything but my bowels under control!! Went from there to my favorite junk yard and bought 4 of the best $2 mounted tubeless tires I could find!
I have 4 different versions of Hot Rod Lincoln done live by Charlie Ryan and a couple of different live versions done by Commander Cody, So Depending on what "Recorded live at" copy you might have the wording might be slightly changed! The number of cylinders for example I have both 8 and 12 done by the same artists at different times. I think they eventually went with 8 because the younger generations that still loved the tune had no clue that there was ever a V12 lincoln!
