I had a call from Steve Curl a shipping Buddy of ours who had 2 Buick's that were destined for the scrap yard !! did I want them ? Kerry & I decided to go in , buy them & make a viable project for some one & more importantly save them from the wrecker. We cleaned them out of about 20 yrs of desert dirt & sundry shit , put a carb on the "better " prospect & got her running !!!! Today we spent the day swapping fenders, bumpers , grill parts etc etc to make a presentable package. Checked the brakes all looked good, got the master cylinder pumping fluid , bled the brakes, we now have brakes. Next is see if we can get her to move , get title & move on to a new owner .We love a challenge .
Great Save... I love those years! I know where there's a 52 Pontiac in the same condition and I'd like to save it before it is crushed as well... Only takes money and a wrecker!
Those old Beaufords make great cruisers. Corvette IRS is an easy swap and the engine bay has room for the biggest of big blocks. Fatman makes a clip that fits like factory. Now that you have it you need to build it.
a friend has a 49 convertable he keeps trying to sell it to me, if i had the money it would be mine, its a project but in very nice shape.
it completely escapes me that someone would look at something like that and say "scrap it"! Do these people not understand that this stuff isn't being made anymore? Looks like a great score. Wish I didn't have projects lined out for the rest of my forseable future...
I'm still drooling over John Grapevine (Rose Mist) clone...... QUESTION: Are those the stock '52 Buick Wheel covers? Pretty cool looking!
We could not let them go , the main one is going to go on ebay for a wider audience , the other is available REALLY CHEAP with both the vins out of the system reg will be a cinch . We are getting title only on the complete car, Hopefully we'll have her moving today , she tried to move on Friday, low trans fluid is all it looks like. These really are great cars , hopefully we can find a new owner, we all have too many projects to complete this one.
QUOTE=it completely escapes me that someone would look at something like that and say "scrap it"! Do these people not understand that this stuff isn't being made anymore? Some people just take the easy way out to unload these cars. Good for people who can pull the trigger and rescue them. That is how I got my last truck ($50). I couldn't believe it. The guy said he could have got $250 at the scrapper. Nice save.
Should be more people like you, Steve. Legend! Roadmaster's as well. Sheesh! These things are worth gold down under.
Nice save. If you were closer I may want to consider it. I love the chrome fins. Anyone know how well would those fit on a 50?
Thanks fellas, going good on ebay , a nice cheap project for some lucky person , I agree great cars room for all the family & the mother in law in the trunk Only Joking Sylvia !
