This adapter fits a sbc, what does it adapt to?

Can anyone tell me what this adapts a Chevy to?

What are the extra "ears" up top for? Looks like something rusty was bolted to the top two?

Any chance it's marine?

i was guessing boat also or maybe some sort of sprintcar in/out box.

 

Looks like it would fit a Chevy as well asBuock/Olds/Pontiac wit the extra bolt holes up to...no clue to what transmission, looks too small to be early ford and I dont see a hole for a clutch fork.

 

Commercial wood chipper. Have one in the shop. Originally had a 250 six on it..
