1940 Packard Bolt Pattern (Is It 5x5?)

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Scotch Buzzard King, Dec 3, 2011.

  1. Is the bolt pattern on a 1940 Packard wheel 5x5? I saw on another thread that on a 1947 Packard it is, but is it on the 1940? Is it the same for the straight six and the super eight?

When I was looking for old fashioned steeleis to fit a 1955 Olds rear with 5 on 5", a local shop had an ancient book to show what cars had 5 on 5". Packard was on that list. I later met a guy with a 37 that his had 5 on 5, and I am pretty sure the book showed it going way newer on that same 5"....just the wheel widths changed as they got newer

  5. Well the frame I'm using has a 5x5 wheel pattern (since its a Chevy truck frame), and I would actually like to use original Packard wheels if I can so I can use original Packard hubcaps. There is a lot of similarity between 1967-72 Chevy long bed wheel bases and original 1940 Packard 120's. They actually have the exact same wheelbase at 127 inches. If the bolt pattern is identical, then man: what an upgrade!
