Got a '70 500+ in my avatar car. Compared to what's been shown mine looks like a pig. But I'm not scared of any Mustangs;)

Quick questions on the 365/390 Cads. I am thinking of putting one in my 41 Chevy coupe with a T5 behind it and was wondering how reliable they are? Once they are set up do they run with little problem or are they finicky like some of the old motors are? Also, how much do you think it would cost to rebuild one? I would be doing the work after the machine shop does its thing.
    Thanks
    Paul

Putting a '62 390 in my Model A coupe. Just picked up the 4-spd from Drew (32coupedeville). Now I need to save money for the adaptor!

here two pics of my 1951 ford . the motor was built in the mid-50`s 1949 331 block with a 365 crank and 4.020 bore 359 inch`s is close with a small cam and milled heads. has a b&m valve body hydro reverse shift patern trans . i love this old car and she will fly . the guy that built the car in the late 50`s said it would run high 12`s and he class raced it for two years. i have owed drag cars all my life and i can say i`m sure it did

build kits aren't cheap, but if you buy quality parts you'll have a good power plant. I spent $2200 at the machine shop on mine about 8 years ago--everything short of blueprinting. plus some stuff I took them. I'd have to go look, but I've probably got $3500 in the build. It's as dependable as my daily driver. will fire up and run any time. has it's quirks, but nothing major--a little more blow by than I'd like and my power sterring pump just isn't right, but that's what happens when you grab one from the corner of the shop and hope for the best.

I'm running a 4 speed now and probably going to a t5 this winter. I'd definatley reccomend the 5 speed or od A/T.
