Fully chromed engine compartment.

 

I have searched in my files and have not been able to come up with something on this car. When was the 1954 Chevy grille, molded in grille top and 1958 Pontiac front bumper added to the car... do you know that?

Thanks for looking. The car is from Il and was a mild Custom from new with the major modifications done in the early 1960's. It was originally black then painted Candy Red. The car was shown at the World of Wheels in I believe 1963 & 1964 after which it was stored in a heated garage for many years.

Check "Cars" magazine April, 1962. There is an article on the "Ala Impala" but it is a '59 hardtop and not a '58.

Hi Rik,
The first owner lowered the car, installed a tube grille, nosed & decked it in 1958. He enlisted in the army and sold the Impala to the second owner in 1959. The second owner and two of his friends did all of the subsequent work to the Impala. The 58 Pontiac bumper bought new was installed in 1960 and the 54 grille was installed a few years later. I bought the Impala from the second owner and it is in exceptional condition having been properly cared for from new. If you have any info about the 58 please let me know. thank you, Andy

 

I believe the grill is a 59 Imperial.
