My Dad took me to my first car show in 1964 at the Houston Coliseum. I only really remember one car, a T-bucket with a tall top, and two inline six cylinder motors, side by side, mounted at an angle to each other. It might have been gold or brown. Anybody remember it or know where it is today?

I know some of these pictures may not be totally correct for this thread, but they are my collection of hot rod cards from the 60's. I am too lazy to sort them out, so I just scanned the whole card holder page. Here are the first 4 pages:

Looks good, EXCEPT.... the exhuast looks like an afterthought. It doesn't fit the style of the car.

Great stuff i really felt at home seeing all of those great cars.

  25. Really old thread but I can add some info about the history of the Silhouette. Starbird ended up in Bakersfield for some time in the 70s. I remember seeing the Silhouette in the back of a paint stripping shop her in Bakersfield many years ago, like 1975? It was pretty much all there except it had been painted a horrid lime metal flake color. Why do all old show cars end up painted lime metal flake? I was poor so didn'te even ask if it was for sale but it was in rough condition; the chrome was all rusty, the bubble scratched and checked and the paint really trashy. Sad, that was one of the most beautiful custom cars ever made.

I liked the X-Sonic through all it's incarnations but never understood th bubble top but no windshield?

I realize that by that time it was show only but I liked cars that were at least hypothetically streetable.

  28. I have old pics that I took of Del Clausens '31 A in 1961 at the Mason City, Iowa fair grounds car show. He still lives there and has a chopped, channeled and sectioned shoebox Chevy that's out of this world!
