i got a guy that came by the shop the other day with a set of 13x7 astro supremes... he said that his son bought them in 1975 and then went into the military and only had them on his car for three months... they are perfect on the faces no blemishes.... the backs have minimal surface rust.... how do i tell if these are original astros or they are the newer repop supremes??? and what would these wheels be worth?? i want them for my 63 bel air i hate my wires...

    Hey there......

yea I would say they are originals, just by the fact that they are 13 inchers in a 5 lug........ The new Astros are not made in 13s.......
as in what they are worth ...... you know one mans shit is anothers............ I being in the wheel business, specializing in old wheels would say if they are as clean as you say, they should be worth as high as $350-$400 for the set........ any more than that would be eBay ridiculous, after all they are only chrome plated steelies..... not like old mags or Americans......... So if can get them for $400 or less I would say you are doing good.

my problem is i like wheels & dont play bigotted on them as when there made as i have had tons of org sets that leak air have cracks beat up where lugs go & love all the new ones as there in far better shape unless your luck out like speed & find a set of orgs in good shape i would of grabbed them ones last month but they were 13"s & i want 14-15s 13" tires are just to small for my tastes
