I love the black steelies in the front with the reverse's on the back. I come up the the scenerio in my mind : its 1962, the owner wanted to go drag racing so he popped the hub caps off, raised the front alittle, and he bought some slicks but couldnt run them on the street all the time because the cops gave him shit, so he bought another set of rims from cal cusom for the slicks...but wanted something alittle stylish when he was at the strip so he got the chrome reverses. .......that is a very period look you have going on there.

I'm really diggin' the pics on this thread.
I had a set on my first 55 years ago. I bought them used and the centers were a little rusty so I put the stock dog dish caps on.

I've been wanting a set of chrome reverse for my 55 Handyman.
They just are not around anymore. Except the specialty wheel shops.
And the "smoothies" are just not what I want.
And 800 bucks a set is just ludicrous.
I used to see them at K Mart for 50 bucks a pop.
Of course, that was years ago when everyone wanted aluminum wheels
and chrome reverse was for the poor guys.
Just went back a couple pages and saw these:

Summit sell them at a reasonable price.
If they won't fit the 55, I'll put them on the coupe.

These aren't reversed but they were split, chromed, then re-welded. I was going to clean them up with evaporust and polish the chrome. Don't know if I'll use them though, anybody need a pair?

Love this. I've got small window 'brands for my 40, but really thinking about running chrome reversed on the back, save loads of agro trying to get the 8x15 'brands under the rear fenders without major surgery on the 40 rear axle. So whats the 'history on CRS on the back and a light 'mag' on the front? Was it purely a weight thing on race cars, or wide rear mags were too expensive 'back in the day', or just a 'fashion thing'?

  13. Are the chrome reverse from wheelkid multiple lug pattern (10 holes)??? Single lugs seem pretty hard to find...

The 'old' House of Hotrods shop truck..... These were 15x6's - New OLd Stock in the box Appliance Plating wheels that I purchased at Salem Speed Shop about 15 years ago or so. I bought all he had that I could ever think of possibly using......this particular set was date coded August of 1963. :)

This is a '31 Roadster I had for many years. I have some better pics of the wheels, but these I found at the Centralia Wa. swap meet about ten years ago, and they had center cones tacked into them with wire baskets - yeah - you know what I am talkin' about. They had some street roddy looking tires on the skinnys, but the rear tires were cool vintage wide oval white letters. Everyone was walking by and laughing, but I realized what they were. Made sure they were straight, and bought all 4 for 80 bucks. Sold the two wide ovals at Portland Expo swap for 100. The rears were Appliances and the fronts had been custom made from mid 50's Chevy wheels - with the rims cut out and welded back in and then chromed - yep - real chrome reverses.

I love this thread.....nothing looks bad with chrome steel....
I changed it up this year, for something a bit more sinister:

What a classic look that never goes out of style.

I remember when I was a kid my sisters boyfriend at the time bought a set from JC Penny. $17.00 each W/ chrome lug nuts! big $$$ back then.

those Speedways do not look like normal chrome reverse. They are solids chrome plated. from what I see in the catalog they do not have the gap between the hoop and rim center like a factor wheels does.. maybe the picture I have does not show it at the right angle.
