I am getting ready to do a chop and would like to find more pics of this car, I really like the quarter windows, longer than most when chopped. Does anyone have more pics of this car or some similar in chop style. I have 54 front suspension, an extra roof, a 41 Buick special front clip, 327 4 speed, I am gonna attempt a swank Kustom. Thanks all.
Sounds interesting. One of my running buds did what I thought was one of the best looking chops on one of those a few years ago and I have some photos in a box somewhere. I like the longer windows on that one as they keep the proportions better.
I was thinking if I move the top down and back instead of foreward and use the front of the donor top for the windshield post and crown it might keep the window in the quarter long if not longer and graft in the missing lower sill chunk. I haven't laid the Buick nose on it yet to see if it is too wide. I know is is about an inch longer it covers the cowl area unlike the 41 chevs, hopefully not too much work to modify the cowl. I'm getting excited!
Wow! That is the best looking chop on a 48' I have ever seen. I was just researching this topic because I was looking at a 48'
A friend of mine is chopping his 48, there are some pics of the build on his clubs faceplantbook-page. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.304573742906139.89701.237788526251328&type=3
Not exactly what you asked for but i thought i would post it up just to throw out more ideas....filled in 1/4 windows.
Man no one has another pic of the car, o well maybe if I put this one up for the Saturday crew if not Ill let it die.
Here is one i did a couple of years ago. Oh, and the forward rake is now gone, it's bagged and sits very low.
Very nice flow on the chop the loft matches the drip rail, just so its known, i do really like the short quarter windows but want to attempt the longer windows since the Buick nose is about two inches longer I am hoping for a longer look.
when i opened this thread I figured that I would find a photo of this car.. Ironically, im fairly certain that I took the photo above.. at goodguys show in columbus in 2007... at the time, I had a stock bodied 47 coupe and I was considering a chop.. duplicating this guys efforts would have certainly been the best choice.. I hope that it still exists in this condition.. I wouldn't change a thing.. http://public.fotki.com/sawzallshop/some_photos_from/2008/goodguys-columbus/dsc08637.html
While I didn't get a perfect side photo.. I had enough forethought to take a photo of his window sticker.. which I will forward you.. do a quick google search, I bet you might be able to speak with the owner..
