I have seen posts on 32s,like approximately 51,000 5ws,21,000 3ws or there about, but no stats on 40s.Any one know how many coupes, sedans, convertibles, etc?
From ehow.com "Ford sold a total of 541,896 vehicles in 1940. Of these, 20,183 were deluxe business coupes, 23,704 were deluxe convertible coupes and 27,919 were deluxe coupes. A total of 91,756 deluxe four-door sedans came out in 1940. Ford produced 8,730 deluxe station wagons and 171,368 deluxe two-door sedans." Rich
I've got 2 - a Std coupe and a p-up that's "in progress" .... but I've owned 4 other pickups and one other coupe, plus one 39 Deluxe coupe for good measure .....
Not nearly enough!!!!!!! Are you looking for production numbers, or how many of us on here have them????
I always heard there were only about 2000 production sedan deliveries and I am proud to own one of them. But, if you look, it seems that a '40 sedan delivery must be the most prevalent hot wheels model ever turned out in different paint schemes.
Congratulations to The-Rodster,the only one that answered the question of production figures, who has what was not the question.
I have a coupe of 46 years and a pickup and another pickup project that is well under way. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=527407
lots were made.. lots survived.. I've no idea what production was on cars but wagons are documented with a body number, i believe there were about 8800 woodie wagons built in 40.. this includes both standard and deluxe..
I've always liked the '40. was going to buy one when I was in High School but couldn't get the money up for it. $2500 for this and think what it would cost now.
Nice work rodster.... . Mine must be number 171,387 and a 1/2. Because that is pretty much what I had when it bacme mine.
Well now that we know the numbers of the 40's produced...... I guess now we should do a head count of who has a 40 on the HAMB........ I have a deluxe tudor This is the day her and I met. Love at first sight
Wanted one since I was 18 years old and this is what I ended up with after importing into Australia as a body shell in 1990, took 15 years to finish and have been driving the wheels off it since Ray

As they say, a work in progress and slow going at that. My first 40 build, kind of learning as I go. It's going to be a driver so i'm not real concerned about originality.
