Looking to buy a '68 DeVille, and the ONLY bit of rust on it is under the rear windshield. Thankfully, the sheet metal under it is fine, and the trunk pans are fine. But the entire lower section around the glass needs to be repaired. Typically, how much does a shop charge to replace the bottom of the window channel? I just need the metal work done, I can do the finish and paint on my own.

    hey,

Does your De Ville still have the padded roof cover? if so, expect to find more rust removal needed! To repair the window flange/pinch weld area will require removal & replacement of the back light, new sealer, and some new clips to hold on the window trim.

Nope, thankfully a hard top! No signs that it was a vinyl roof car, ever.

Unfortunately, it got too dark to photograph it by time I was done looking it over. I only have this one pic, and it was the worst of it. But the whole lower edge would need attention.

The trunk metal under the window is solid, and the rockers are good as well. It's dry stored right now, thankfully.

Im going to say if you end up having to go all the way across the bottom of the glass channel, and there are no hidden surprises, and its just metal work......... $350-$400

I would take the glass out, and the trim before you drop the car off.
