i put a pail there,never thought to put the funnels above it.
now ,with the plasma torch i can make the assorted holes i need,a lower pan for draining filters-man,the creative juices are flowing.

That rotisserie is the shit!! I'm gonna build a few!

 

I think lots of HAMBers have made a slide hammer, but here's mine that was created with some scrap pieces and an old 3/8" drill chuck. Sure is a lot cheaper than a stud/pin welder and works good .. I use pieces of 1/8" welding rod as the studs for pulling the metal.

 

now that is a great idea.next time i need to pull some dents,im bulding it.

He is my steel rack made out of scrap wire shelving. Now I can see what all of my off fall is.

 

Great idea. I just reorganized all my scrap metal using old milk crates and buckets for similar types: like round, solid, square, angle. I like your's for the longer pieces.

hammerstand made from two brake drums and driveshaft holds hammers and punches plus clamps.

 

work table picked up from fast food place. nice casters,stainless steel. holds vise and grinder. added old tins for storage. also added electrical outlet so all i have to do is roll it where i want and plug it in.

 

Lots of great ideas here. I appreciate all the postings. I was fighting the scrap metal mess in the shop today. I'm using Joey-D's idea tomorrow to help sort the long pieces. Thanks.

*Vice grip storage rack,

*Tube bender for thin wall (exhaust) pipe.

Vise Grip storage rack-
take 1"square tubing 2"long.the adjuster end just fits inside the square tubing.
i welded four togeter and it holds em just great.
i needed to radius the inside edges a litte as the vise grips would stick a little.

 

I keep my vise grips (most of 'em, anyway) under the edge of my welding table. Probably have another half dozen or so of the smaller (7", 10") in my tool crib or by the forge:



Here's a couple of anvils I've built, from RR rails:


The bigger one's not really finished yet -- still needs a raised face:


And this little guy I made for, well, little stuff, like copper trim, and so forth. My wife (a glass artist) has more-or-less confiscated it ('cause she can easily lift it and carry it off!), and taken it up to her studio to hammer out little jewelry trim and such:

Joey-D, great steel rack. I have had one similar to that in my shed for about 12 years now that is used on a regular basis. MikesIron, those vise grips are too neat stacked like that. Mine are stored in a similar fashion, however, i have vise grips one end, and G clamps the other end.

Made this a couple of years ago. Wanted it portable if I needed to take to another location to help friends so I made it so that I could slide a hitch pin in to hold it for transporting. Another advantage is, with tailgate down, the truck bed acts as a table to hold long pieces or sheets of steel. Have bent up to 1/4 flat bar with no problems.

 

another brilliant idea! portable and rigid.i made my brake ,but havent figured a base,considering my vise is on a reciever already,and i can use it in my hitch,i never thought about doing it with my brake.

You could mount receiver tubing under your workbench so you could use it in the shop as well. Nice design, really versatile.

 

When I built my garage, I put four tie downs in the floor, using 1" nuts welded to round tubing with scrap metal rods and such welded to that as support in the concrete. The plugs are from 1" all-thread. There are four, in a 4' x 8' rectangle. Works great for pulling frames, etc., although I haven't used them as much as I thought I would. Especially since I stopped crashing circle-track cars.

I drilled and put 4 lag bolts in the floor..Have a portable hand winch that can be used on our trailer or pinned to the floor.

beats the hell out of pushin crap in & out.
