That is a great looking chop. I sure want to see photos of the car when it is finished.

i'm another one who thinks that body style would lend it's self to being turned a dream car roadster with a low windshield and a deck that stretches from just behind the front seat all the way to the back bumper. It would be trick if a guy could get the top to drop down below a lift up deck where the back seat sits.

  4. Need JamesD to photoshop that baby finished as a roadster.

Nice work on the chop, lots of work thats turning out great.

    Great movie

And the chop is really perfect.
The car was already nice before the chop. But the chop is just perfect for that car. The new lines are so pleasing to the eye.... I cant wait to see the rest of the chop getting done.

This is how a real custom should look like, an improvement over the original.

    Looking forward to new updates.

And yes the Roadster look amazing as well... somebody should built something like that!

Wow, you guys did a bang up job! I love the stock appearance to begin with, but as Rikster said, you somehow managed to improve on it. Subscribed.

I thought that was a sweet looking ride BEFORE you chopped it.

    Looks even sweeter AFTER!

    Well done fellas, well done.

P.S. I would've been nervous beforehand too if it was mine.

Thanks for the kind words Rik! I know both the owner and builder/mentor appreciate hearing this from you :)

As you said, it truly is an improvement over the original. Now we will do our best to guide the kid through the rest of the build! The next big question now is slanted or straight b-pillars. We are leaning towards slanted. During the build we also fooled around about making a new b-pillar post with the shape of the matranga windows..... over the top maybe?

The taillights is another question. Keep the stock ones or, shave them away and make new ones in the bumper guards? My vote goes to the bumperguard-taillights.

Looks like most of the work in that chop is really in the trunk area. The actual roof chop is very clean and relatively simple looking. One thing I think the car loses in the chopped version is the nice flowing curve from the roof to the rear bumper. The chop kind of flattens it out. I know it has to, but it just caught my eye, that's all.

Nice work. Looking forward to seeing the finsihed product.

The biggest question is: how long did it take you guys to do this???
Its toatally awesome as it is, but i vote for slanted Bs and bumperguard 'lights too. for what is worth.

I will have to say when I scrolled down and seen what you were starting with the first thought in my head was "WTF ARE YOU THINKING!!! THAT IS PERFECT JUST THE WAY IT IS!" but then after seeing it all back together the new and improved way....AMAZING!!! That chop is spot on! Hats off to you for being brave and ballsy enought to do it, looks perfect.
