No luck on that site, my trans reads:
Tag on case: HEF F 025114
    Cast onto case: C3AR 7006-E
    And: C3TR 7A040 W-2

    Anyone know any other websites?

  5. Try this one, it is old, but may have the info. They mention this tranny having either a 2.59 or 2.79 first gear.

I think the C3 in the numbers you found indicate the transmission was built in 1963, so the original was replaced at some point.

As far as the ratios go, my 1966 truck manual says the light duty 3 speed transmission had a 2.99 first, 1.75 second and 1.00 third in trucks with a 240ci six engine. I don't know for sure, but chances are the ratios were the same for 1961-1966 trucks - my parts catalog shows in 1966 the tag would have read HEF-xx (the xx = various letters depending on the exact model truck.)

edit: there was one version in 1966 that had ratios of 2.79, 1.70 and 1.00, but it was only used in the Econoline with a 170ci six.

    Yo Torr,

You can measure the ratio too just to be sure. Put it in gear and spin the rear shaft 1 turn, and see how many turns the front shaft spins.
