  2. Just finished this one up. Car is from a daytime shot at a local car cruise called the Golden Super Cruise. Background is the Greek Theater at Civic Center Park in Denver, with the Colordao State Capitol in the background.

The streets came out a bit too warm, mostly due to the high pressure sodium lights.

thanks Jeff, ewt2 - pencil extraordinaire, thanks Jigger you're right...Brother Bender! Tommy - love to see how the "H" you do that, amazing! Thanks Limefire
I know Mr. Art Director Norwell named this weeks thread Rusty and Crusty because of his first post. I for one enjoy having a theme to create to. Someone throws out a word and we all paint, sketch, shoot or sculpt to that theme. What do you think?

Did you all miss the fact that this is an oil painting and not a photo?
    Amazing work.

  7. Thanks for the kind words about the print, gang!
It's an 8 color print with a limited edition of 40 pieces. Anybody interested in purchasing one, can pick them up here: http://tinybirdpress.com/store

    YES, that'd be great!

    Amazing show everyone!
Dutch Courage - your use of colors is just genius on the bellytank piece, and by the way, what program did you use? the background particles doesnt look too much like vector, or i guess i simply havent learned enough haha.
tulilanka - great idea and sweet composition, i love the dirty look.
Janne - i love your style, and i want to try out something like that too, what pencils do you use? or is it just crayons
Buick59 - great composition, gotta love the leaves in focus
    dankyd - amazing.
Jigger - I love the pink caddy, the proportions are lovely.
Norwell - I love the bright color and the accenting with the very black bits really sets it off.
Tim - looks great, hoping to see a better photo though!
Also, I always love to see how many different ideas you guys can come up with, now its with the Inland Emperors, just plain awesome stuff.

You guys keep this up and next week I might just have something for ya.

Lockwasher your work is stellar as usual.
Mr Norwell looks like alittle liberty with a magazine cover from a great mag. Man I miss that mag.

    Take care guys.

  10. All Illustrator - The background particles are from a bitmap distress-effect that I vectorized (traced) so that I could use it more easily in Illustrator.

I'm always late for everything! Here's a few rusty, crusty paintings to contribute:

    Thanks N.Ozols

Paul, we tried something similar to the theme idea with a semi-monthly "art challenge'
I'll PM a link to you. I kinda like a more spontaneous theme suggested like this week so no one feels left out but if someone were to suggest an idea for the following week or, maybe a couple weeks away, that could be cool. Still, I like when things unfold without planning.
    Great show everyone!!!

Yeah, but the problem with that is that most of pieces that fit the theme are old stuff

We partnered up with Ben Mitchell AKA Drag Daddy, these are a few of the cool designs he sent us. I dig these.

Thanks, dankyd. Ed Tillrock is an amazing talent, I look forward to his latest postings. You're up there on the talent scale as well. With both of us in Ohio, maybe I'll run into you sometime and we can swap art details. You got great brushwork I admire.
