I am looking for ideas for the front end of my chopped 56 Ford Truck. I dont really want to use a stock grille.

I was hoping some of you guys (and gals) might have some pictures of different nose treatments on the mid-50's Ford trucks...

    anyone?

I've always thought a 51 -52 f1 grille with a fist full of teeth would look cool on mine.Maybe with the headlights of a 56 grille grafted on. then again canted quads with a lark grille is always cool. Although you can't beat that 56 grille.,and everybody wonders why my truck has been in primer for 30 years.I CAN NEVER MAKE UP MY MIND.

I really didnt like the looks of the 53 f100 grill so i used a 1954 ford passenger car grill between the truck headlight buckets and used 53 mercury headlight rings to give them a frenched appearance

If it is of any use to you, here is what I did with my 54. Chrome 56 grille with sidelight/turn signal assemblies shaved and bulbs put in the headlights, backed with a gold anodised mesh. And a couple of subtle neons as I am an attention whore.
    Good luck

In Post 12 with all the eye candy, the middle row, middle pic, the "Candy Cane" used 53 Buick headlights and a 55 chev grille.

The quad headlight treatment used in the other pics were from either 57 Imperials or 59 Chev impalas and many used the 61 - 62 Chrysler grilles.

One truck uses a 58 Ford truck grille slightly modified.

    The rest were fabricated grilles.

Mid-Fifty F100 Parts also carries a line of custom grilles.

Less Is More.. Hard to beat the looks of the stock grill for 53,55,56...
    Just my opinion...

Your right, less is more on these trucks unless you plan on customizing the rest of the truck. If your not changing anything else, go subtle on the grill. All the tock 53-56 are nice looking, the '54 is probably least so IMHO.

If you plan on customizing the rest of the truck, take a look through the pics of the 53-56 custom trucks and see what works and expand from there
