Projects My F1 project

This is what I traded for;a 1948 F1 400 SBC turbo 350 9" rear.
Nicely Channeled about 7"

I spent a few days sorting out the wiring, replaced alternator and bracket, battery and a few switches. Still a bit more to go.
Removed the beautiful 33 truck grill and sold it to a very appreciative Ford barn member.

I got the bulk of the sheet metal from the previous so Ive started piecing it together on the truck






Since it is sitting lower everything is moving down. I will have to cut the front of the frame horns to accommodate the headlight/ grill section. Other problems I foresee
are tire clearance problems and speed bump issues
I don't know if I will do something "custom" in the front
If anyone has any insight, pictures etc of a similar truck I am open to Ideas

 

I don't have any information other than those look to be F2-3-4-5 fenders as the wheel opening is quite a bit larger...

And of course those wheels look right at home on a lowered fat fendered Ford

 

Today I removed 4" from the frame horns. Bolted grill section in place and did a temp support on the fender

Great choice on putting fenders back! mine is channelled 6 inches. alot of work. wish you luck. keep up good work and make sure to post lots of pics.

what front frame section do you have. is it atock or ifs. heres a picture of my truck. honestly, i wouldnt sweat the speed bumps

Like Charlie said I''m sure glad you're putting the front sheet metal back on. Have you thought about making it a tilt front end?

 

Looks a lot better with the fenders and hood on!

 

My cab has been channeled 3" and the top is chopped 5". I have been tossing around different thoughts of what to do to put the hood back on.

Possibly using two or three hoods to make one that fits the current fender height?
What you are doing has me thinking I may reposition the front fenders and channel the bed as an option...

Actually a tilt was my plan at first. Id like to see how has been done.
I'm going to try and get some more pieces tomorrow(lower left front and the headlight pieces)

 

That '33 truck grille needed to be at least one parking place away from your p/u..and on a '33 truck.
Great start on your project. Liking the front sheet metal back on it, where it belongs.

Here's a pic that another HAMBer posted of his tilt setup. Its a 'glass '56 but the principle would still work for our trucks.

 

Nice to see somebody putting fenders on instead of taking them off.

Nice to see you taking the time to reinstall the fenders. A lot of cars/trucks get channeled without thought of making everything fit together and have a pleasing look when finished. Keep us posted on the progress.

Got my missing Lower fender today along with some headlight buckets and rear fenders

 

Good work! Taller wheels/tires will get you out of that too low situation.

 

Thanks for the picks. Im going with some simple hinges on the cowl.( $0.00budget for me right now)

 

The new left lower is considerably larger than the right side.
I traced the smaller fender section and transferred it to the right side, used a jigsaw to trim and a flap wheel to finish. Turned the wheel all the way left and still have about 1/2" clearance and no issues with lower fenders
