Evening, I am a new subscriber but not new to hot rodding as I have been building cars and bikes for 35+ years. recently after turning 50 I have decided to build the car i have allways wanted to do which is a fat fender chevy. I have ended buying a 41 tudor off of craigslist for 500 bucks in pieces (of course). The reason i decided on this car as maybe my last project (Im getting old) is due to a 472 caddy motor sitting on the stand that I look at every day.(it came out of my last project a mid engined 89 s10 blazer that was stupid fast and a ticket magnet) and figured a 40's car were its real home should be. the car is a little ruff but came with an extra front sheet metal and a floor that was cut out by someone so it could be tubbed. I am inclined to build a 50's/60's style hot rod but my mind is not set yet. I have a crap load of questions im sure you guys will get tired of me asking. this will be the first car other than the blazer that i have built just to be pure fun and look forward to the late nights in the garage so wish me luck. Bill
Welcome from New Mexico Bill! Don't start with that 'getting old, last project' crap; from my perspective you're still a young dog, and I have at least half a dozen projects to finish! Good luck with the'41 Chevy; sometimes the roughest ones bring the most satisfaction when they're done.
I'm a little over an hour from you in SE Nebraska. I went to school with a guy who (I think) still ownes a tractor/diesel repair place in Farragut. Love those old Chevys. I've got a '37 and a '48. See Ya,
