Nice, but correct wheels might add $10K to the value.

  3. There were no automatic 406 cars. Tell your buddy to sell the 406 car to someone who appreciates it and buy something else to screw up....

Put pictures of it on the Cars For Sale portion of this site. You'll get calls and messages, trust me.

I found the entry list of the 1965 NHRA Winternationals. Car number 796 was a 1965 Ford driven by Doug Butler from Ridgecrest CA. That same entry list shows Mike Schmidt driving car number 740. Both cars are Desert Motors Inc entries.

interesting.....i have a pic somewhere of mike running this car(796). i never knew butler actually raced! learned something new! the guy in the car looks to be pretty tall. butler was no more than 5'7" and mike was 6'4". butler owned desert motors. dad was working for him when he met mike. dad bought our b/fx mustang(originally run by ed terry) from butler.

Where did he get the baby blue 64? I had a low mile 6 banger one I sold to a guy back east around 2003-4. He was going to do like a lightweight clone with it.

Never say never.....especially with early 60's performance cars. Lots of one offs and special orders, though not nearly as many as all the stories out there.

Here's a link to the LoveFords site from last year, showing a '62 XL 406/405HP w CRUISE O MATIC auto trans....

Frank, please get pics of that Q code Country Sedan posted soon! Inquiring minds need to know.:D

    Thanks,

Anyone remember the story on the lightweights where they drove the same cars around the building and brought them back through the finish line to be counted again? Supposedly there were considerably fewer made than Ford claimed.

Go to edit on the huge pictures and delete them. Your other pictures are the correct size and look nice.

Hey Frank, is this "burgundy" car the one that the same family from "Iowa" has owned since its birth?
