TO ALL MY FRIENDS HERE AT THE H.A.M.B...

It's been a long time since I've had to ask for your help, but because of the major storm & the power outages in the East I've had a problem with my Site.

The servers for the HOF Legends Site are located in that direction and have had on-and-off power problems the last two days. They are supposed to be on backup gens. right now, and the Site looks okay here, BUT could you please take a moment from whatever part of the Country, overseas, or, wherever you are, and let me know if you're getting it okay ?

There's a massive amount of Info & work on the Site, I check-it regularly, it needs to be up 24/7/365 so that the voices & stories of these Legends can be heard, however when "mother nature" interferes I'm at her mercy. And all of my fellow Hambers are kind enough to give me important feedback when emergencies come up. God Bless & many thanks in advance !

if it works in town a it will work everywhere. That's how the internet works. There is no need to 'test' it from different locations- as if it's broken in a specific location, there's nothing you could do at the server level to correct a geographically isolated fault.

EDIT: Okay, my original post was really jerky. I'm sorry. Not enough sleep:) The above info is still valid. Here's a better answer:

If you're server has "tipped over" (meaning, it went down) and you've just brought it up- what you DON'T want to do is drive a lot of traffic to the site until you're 100% positive the web server is stable.

Jonny, thank you for the PM. You're a gentleman, and again, I apologize publicly for my harsh tone. I'm going to attach a sleep-deprivation monitor on my keyboard now :)

    david,

I'm sorry if that's your opinion. My intent has nothing to do with your take on the subject.

Those who know me know that I'm always honest in what I do, and I'm not an engineer or I.T./server expert, so my Post was sincere and I appreciate those who understand that.

I have no bad feelings toward you, David, I wish you only the best.

I don't argue with those here on the board, because like my Dad always told me: "Son, it's much easier to be critical than it is to be correct."

I realize no matter where we are, or, who we are, we're all here for the same reason Hot Rods & Customs...and everyone has differing opinions, and deserves respect for that. So, thanks again for posting.

    Jonnie,
From the looks of your DNS info, you are using IXwebhosting.com to host your site. I supect that they have your site on a server located in Columbus OH. If it were me, I would move my site from their hosting ASAP. I have not read good things about them.

    Good luck

    Andy,

What have you read? I've used IX for years without issue - but I'm not opposed to moving.

Please PM me as not to hijack this tread.

    Andy,

Thanks for the info. They are usually okay, but sometimes have probs. when major "nature" events happen.

But, I will see if there's another solution out there.

Thanks to all who took the time to give some feedback !

Everything seems back to normal right now, so if you're logging on here late you don't have to go much further, but I thank you in any event.

Hope all have a safe HalloweenTonight !
