no such thing as too much hamb. on here at work home and on the road with the phone. I still dont think I need H.A.M.B. anonymous.
Hey Doc, Its always morning somewhere. I have actually been up since about 1:30 AM (here) one of those nights. I haven't spent much time here since so I guess I don't spend too much time here after all.
Since coming down with a chronic illness two years ago and having to sell off all my projects the H.A.M.B. and Jockey Journal mean a ton to me. I live vicariously through other people's builds. I'll hopefully be all better within the next year and be able to start wrenching again.
I'm retired.......I've got the time......nothing else is getting neglected... Most of the time this is better than porn! CB
my frame of refrence when i wrote that was thinking of school work. In july of 2010 i started a masters program that has 1 class right after another. i go 1 night a week for 6 weeks then we start another class. i will be done in march. but i still have alot of work to do. i have seniorits and want be done. im very close. but then i found HAMB and now i have been doing this to much when i should be doing home work. that being said. i am going to allow my self to look at 2 more threads and then put the HAMB back in the ice box (see what i did there) and not get it back out all day. unless i finish my paper. then its ok. but the really good thing is my current job is something a monkey could do and i can on here all day and still get my work done. as much as i enjoy HAMB it sure would be nice to get a promotion.
as I post this on Sunday at 10:00 A.M. I am going to try to convince you guys that most of my HAMBing is done while at work. that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Well at work one of my guys was trying to talk to me when I didn't reply my 2nd in charge guy said - shhh boss is having his H.A.M.B. he can't hear you right now! - I would have laughed butI was really enjoying the post I was on at the time! So I probablly spend a litle to much time on at work ( we arn't susposed to even have our phones ) At home It has replaced TV time!
Yep been here all day however not all is lost. Just spent all day here searching posts and reading and learning most of the day. Saying that i've finally made a choice on colour of my rims, what WW's to sort, new striping and other paint ideas, interiors, exhaust ideas and various other things.Had a break and searched out some rims and made a start on cleaning them up. Mocked a few ideas up and made my mind up on a general look for the car, colour wise and rim wise. So too much HAMB, no way, it's been my guiding light today and helped me get some firm ideas down on paper and things moving in the garage! Good day today!!
To say "too much HAMB" is like saying "too much sex" or "too many hotrods"... It ain't gonna happen man!!!
Until my eyes say enough, HAMB = THERAPY , when I had a bad day and come home, I get into the Hamb and instantly I'm glad, you always learn something new, it's like to be my fuel Hamb thanks
I started takin the commuter train 6 months ago so ihad an extra 40 min each way to be on the hamb instead if driving. Is that goin to far?
But your daily stats say you only post 0.96 times a day. Boy I must be on here too much to get that info
yep, at times i do, trying to limit the time on to times I would not be in the shop and to not stay on for hours (unless I fine a really interesting build(s)...)
Last nights a good example of why I admittedly spend a lot of time on here. Me and my good friend pull up to the hang out and right away everyone runs over to his billeted out 67 Chevy pickup asking him all sorts of questions. The first question I get on mine is; “what is it?” Then I get the unfortunately all too common; “nice R@rod”... All night folks “ooo & ahh” over his 20” wheels, shiny aluminum and pretty color, all due respect to my buddy it’s a nice truck, but his taste is different and as I see it, most of the public at least around here are into the modern themed cars and trucks also. So yeah I spend a lot of time here looking at pictures, searching and reading threads, but unless you live in an area of the country with a large population of HAMB minded folks you do what you have to. Thumbs up to you ‘all on here that take the time to snap build pic’s and post ‘em, teach us, and talk about your traditional rods and especially the old timer’s who lived it and made it everything that was great.
I obviously don't spend nearly enough time on the HAMB. I don't weld as well as many of you, I can't figure out how to chop a top, I don't have a jillion dollars worth of 'stuff' that can be traded or used on the next project. It's apparent that I must sell my company, quit all my non-hot rod hobbies and stick a new blade in the Sawzall, put on the flip top helmet, light up the MIG, run ads for Halibrand wheels, rear ends, Ardun parts and sets, find a 49 'baby' Lincoln and "Begin The Beguine" as they say. dj
Not at all, this place is a welcome break from the everyday pressures. Not only that, but some of the things I've seen people do on here have helped me sort out issues on my '51 F1 project. You never know when a cool little tidbit of info will peg the "Holy Shit Good Idea!" meter.
Yes I am a FNG And have been on all day! but oh well alot of interesting reads here wish I would have joined a long time ago!!
