Life has been taking me in a million directions but finally...had some time to spend on my own hot rod. It really needed a hood. My friend Mark said he made some hold down brackets using the hood side loops on a 33-34 car so I decided to try it on the '32. I made these from 1/4 round stock. I drilled and tapped for a small screw to serve as handle and spring stop. They use the existing hood side loops and just grab the inside on the grille shell and the lower one grabs the edge of the firewall. The spring holds it in place. <TABLE dir=ltr border=0 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width="100%"><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top> It is really amazing how much it changes the look of the car. It looks about a foot longer and makes the lines flow uninterrupted. I like it. Next: Fenders These followed me home the other day. Rust free original fenders. More later... </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
It worked out well. I did not like the idea of some big bracket bolted to the hood rods. This makes it clean looking even with the hood open. I may add a slick hood prop rod as well. My hot rod friend Mark came up with the idea and I just adapted it to the '32 hood.
I always thought if I had the chance to chop one, would do 1 1/2 and that would be close to the cab height of an unchoped 3 window. I just realized your car was has had some magazine coverage before you purchased it right? Was very impressed by it then too...
Ha...Larry, part of me feel the same but here in monsoon country it is not practical to drive a highbuy year around. This car is a driver and with fenders it will be more useful. Plus...I have owned two high boys, time to try something different. Here is my inspiration: Sans the white walls...can't go wrong. Plus, I want that house !!
