Just wondering if anybody has seen this car in the since summer 2010? My dad and I built this car and he sold/traded it for a C5 Z06 corvette last spring and the last I saw it, it was for sale on a car lot in West-Milton Ohio. I heard a rumor that it was taken to an auction in Indiana. Its balck on white tuck and roll w/ a 383 SBC, 350 turbo, and a ford9" It had 10" Wheel Vintiques on the back and 6" on the front. Just kinda wanted to keep tabs on the car I haven't been able to make contact with the dealership to see where it went? If it was sold localy I would have thought I would have seen it by now. Oh well thanks in advance...
I'm not a Chevvie guy, but that is a good lookin sumbitch. I wouldn't trade that car for 10 C5 Z06 Vettes. -Abone.
common thought! I guess he's getting old...He's already looking for another project but says he doesn't regret it for a second, says he'll never do with out a c5 or c6
Here it is , right here on the H.A.M.B.... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=630144&highlight=1956+chevy
Slick little 56 in the perfect color for one but with a wheel and tire change and a different license plate you could walk past it at a Goodguys event and never notice that it was the same car. Hopefully it has a nice toasty garage to stay in in the winter and gets to wear out a set of tires every rod trot season.
I knew a guy in Fairfield IL who had a 56 identical to it , he sold it to the guy who owns the yellow 57 two ten gasser with the cross flags on the doors. The 57 was in super Chevy about 7-8 years ago, someone might have an old issue with his name in it.
I believe this car is in the Metro Detroit area, Last year I had seen one just like that at a used car lot on E 8 Mile on the Warren / Detroit border. I had thoughts of stopping to look at it, however by the time I got out of work, the car lot (KAL Motor Sales) was closed and the car was usually put inside the building at night. One day I was out and about running some errands from work and I saw the car near the door of the business and there were several guys standing by it. That was the last time that I saw it until this summer's cruising season started, I was at a Wednesday night cruise in Redford Twp. and this Black 56 Hardtop pulls in and parks, I saw the driver and he looked like the same person that I has seen at the used car lot. I checked it out, the car is nicely done, had seat belts and shoulder harness over the top of the bench seat, kind of unusual. Had a mean sounding small block too. But from looking at your pictures I think it is the same car, new owner stated he paid 20K for it.
I just went back and looked at your pictures.....That is the same car! The cruising season is over for the most part around here, I'll get some pictures of it the next time I see it tho, and post them here.
There was one showing up at cruises and shows locally this year. It looks like the same car. I am located in Eastern pa. Lehigh valley area. The season is all but over here but if I see it I will get pictures of it. It is a real straight car and has been getting a lot of attention.
Thats awesome to hear...I would really appreciate it. If that guy bought it for 20K he probably got a damn good buy IMHO...Yes it had harness' on a bench seat w/ white roll and tuck, chrome fire extinguisher. I would love and hate to see it again, but would really like to keep tabs on it! Thanks again!
anybody in the detroit area know of any websites with pictures of local cruis ins. around here we have the countrycruiser.com
It's in the Detroit area, was at a local cruise night at W. Chicago and Inkster in Redford Twp on Wed nights, a real nice car, as soon as the cruises start I'll take a few pics of it.
Holy Shit!!! Thats it! Damn... It looks like it needs air in the shocks! LOL I don't know what to do now that I found it because I can't afford to buy it! I guess its good to know where it is...I hope he's taking care of it. I know every inch of that car, and I'd give my left nut to get it back! I'd like to find a way to get in touch with him and give him my contact information in the event that he does ever decide to sell it, or if he has any questions! Thanks zmandet! Reminded me of this one... I know its not " The One" http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=8219020#post8219020
That is a good looking car, I'll just always be wanting a hardtop. I love post cars in 55 or 57, but I cut my teeth on that 56 and I'll never be over it. Its kind of like watching some one else banging your ex-girl friend... Well since it was my dads car that thought gets a little gross so I'll leave it at that!
