I happen to know that some more work has been done on this project... Why is Rob holding out on us?

  2. Rob, one thing, I can't see in the picture of your rear spring perches whether or not you have gussets welded to the perches and rear tubes, I had a major problem with the perch actually bending after several months of driving, make sure they are big enough to handle the forces put on them laterally, side to side load, they will weaken over time, I had to change my set up after paint, big bummer, give it some thought.
Those floors are looking great, just be glad you're not using 3 pedals,
    Haha, take care

@ Grits, He has the gusset that comes with the kit, you just can't see it. They are welded in the middle. I always wondered if anyone had them bend after a few good bumps. Stinks yours and to come out, you have such nice paint...

Holy Moly I have been wanting to get back on this soooo bsd. I have been distracted with our club party, HardLuck Hot Rods & Hulas. It was awsome and well worth all the effort. I have also been working on my 55 alot lately as well as whipping together a slick Ford shop truck. So I am no lazy, just busy.

Having said that I have done a bit of work here and there, it just never seems to be enough to justify a post. But I went out and took a few updated pics to get my remote pals a heads up on the progress.

Matt, Rocky and Jay came over and we broke out the sheetmetal brake and the bead roller and got the rest of the trunk laid in.

You can see some of the beads are not quite as nicely done as one would like. I could have remade the panel, but the truth is after the seats, fuel tank, battery box ect. are installed these flaws will be obscured for the most part.

Its weird it always seems as though the hidden stuff turns out great, and the high visability areas end up looking crappy!

I am hoping to be back on the coupe again for some productive sessions before I leave for Afghanistan on deployment.
I will keep you up to date.

I also traded in the stock exhaust manifolds for a great set of long tube headers. They barely clear stearing, but.....they do. Also got the brake pedal set up, as well as the accelerator pedal, and final fitment of the steering column.

I am struggling with my fuel tank situation. I want to run the cowl tank, but it is gnarly inside and has a small leak. I could fix it but may just run a tank in the trunk.

    Any input?

Got a little more worked out today. I am using this trick little wilwood piece. It is an adjustable proprtioning valve with a built in brake light pressure switch. I mounted it inside the frame rails and started routing the brake lines. Looks complicated but is actually realatively straight forward and should work fine.

Well I just got back from a month of train-up before I deploy to Afghanistan next month, and it has become clear that I will not be driving the coupe to Pistons & Paint. I am now in storage mode. Trying to figure out how to secure and seal up all the cars the best I can for my 9 month absence.
    Oh, well maybe next year!

Thanks everyone. Best I know I will be up near the Pakistani border. Not positive exactly where.
Thanks for all the well wishing.
The BOG has been reduced so that is nice.
Should be back by the the summer car show season here in Texas.
I will update from time to time if I see anything you guys might be interested in.
Maybe a Jingle truck or something.

Time is slipping by, slowly and steadily. I miss my girl, I miss my club, and I miss my car.
Thankfully I have the HAMB, and FB to keep me somewhat connected.

Mid Summer and I will be back on the road, until then I am cruising in the beast you see below!

Grits, and those who PM'ed me about my address:
I appreciate the offers for care packages, we have most things we need here. However there are no Car mags here, so when your done with those they would get passed around the camp here for sure.

Someone tell Rodder's Journal we could use a couple issues here!!!
