Why don't you hurry up so you can fly out and help me get my car on the road? I won't tell anybody you helped on a "brand x" engine I promise.

anyone have any tips/tricks for materials painting blocks? im not talking rattle can..my plan is to prime/block and possibly use a durable single stage ,possibly ppg delfleet..any special adhesion tricks or additives to deal with the heat?

  10. Dude, I'm so stoked for you.. I'm glad to see your taking your time, and doing it right. I have a '40 standard coupe also w/ a full race 276 cu. in. '49 merc motor. It has a iski 404 jr. Cam, 8.5 heads, 4 in. Crank, relieved block w/3 97's and a vertex mag. I know smoothing the block takes time but it's well worth it.. Keep up the good work, and post pics when your done.

Thanks man! This motor isn't as wild as yours but its spooling much better than the worn out 40a motor in it now..

  12. That motor is bad ass! I hope to just have a motor that cool, let alone one with history.

  17. What color will it be? I like the brazed up lifters, I believe Ryan's 39 Tudor had a set of lifters like that in it's mill

That motor is gonna be one hell of a ripper. You might have to tub the rear end out to keep the back tires from breaking lose.

    Now THAT is Hot Rodding!!

Only very few guys that are willing to help out young rodders and guide them in the right and "correct" (excuse the punn) direction!

I am very lucky as well to have one of these mentors near by.

Good luck with that awesome mill and please keep us posted!!

    Awesome mill

It never ceases to amaze me, that these "ol' timers" a) have this stuff, and b) are willing to let it go to younger guys, who will cary then flame for years to come.

    Well done

Wow Brandon, with all the metal coming off your block just think of how much lighter and more aerodynamic the coupe is gonna be. This will help the next time you catch air from dips on gravel roads!!

I'll be damned, the original "butt-lickin' guy" is still hangin'-around sniffin' this thread. Amazing how much interest this newbie-jerk shows in a cool ol' flatty that he can "smoke" with Mommie's car. DD
