Here is a picture of my Studebaker Lark E/G wagon. If you were at any So. Cal track in 1970 to 1972 you saw this car run. My brother and I raced this car every weekend at Lions for the entire summer of 1971 only missing one weekend. Held the track record briefly and was always in the hunt. Made regular appearances at Irwindale and OCIR. Made one trip to Famosa and Fremont. It was Stude powered which made the others crazy. I did all of the work myself and that is what made it fun and rewarding.

The gas station name added in shoe polish at this race sponsored all the gas for the car and tow car in 1971. He got better looking lettering by the next weekend.

The whole thread is a perfect example of what's wrong with this site. It can be such a great site most the time, but then a few have to turn a simple post into Mr. Know It All and give a treatise on the terminology used.
Would be so nice to see a post that kept on topic, and didn't get into a pissin match. By now we've heard a hundred times what some think of what a gasser is or isn't, so leave the dead horse alone.

WOW, get over it and stop making a damn pissin match out of everything. The term gasser has become mainstream now and is used to describe a certain look of a vehicle. Give it right or wrong it is what it is. Its like the word bondo when someone says it i think of crappy body filler. But the word is used now to describe body filler. Do i agree with it no. But im not gonna get all worked up over it either.

All of these are from my racing days in the Los Angeles area. The '56 had a four speed with a triple deuce (all factory) setup plus a four speed. The others are 312's with either dual quads or a factory installed blower and one is a picture of that setup.

You newbie's are not paying attention to the threads OP intentions. Gasser wagons. Not 'wagons'. The street freaks come much closer.

EXACTLY...... GASSER is a term to describe a cars look too! Depending on year of car, paint scheme, wheels, ect it could also be a Street Freak!

Call it as you see it, but I like the "wannabe" gasser look, I am building a '54 Stude coupe up now. Believe it or not one of the reasons is I love the Stude but bad back prevents easy access and egress and the extra height serves multiple issues. I also have pickup trucks for same reason but have been wanting a straight axle Stude, that makes my loins warm!!

How hard is it people to follow a simples set of guidelines in a request? Read closely. Check a few pages out get the 'picture'. Pay attention. THEN post your wagon that is fitting of the OP.

I find it to be the opposite. It's about the history and respecting it. Keeping the term used in it's correct context. I appreciate those older gentlemen that were there that correct the young guys. They were there and lived it. I applaud them for sticking to their guns... Correct away guys...

This wagon was burning up the East Coast tracks back in the 50`s with one of the first motors built by Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins
