Projects My 31 pontiac coupe

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by gtowagon, Apr 12, 2011.

  1. Love that '30 Coupe! Rumbleseat model too! As I've posted on here before I keep toying with the idea of rodding mine but as an original running driveable car, I just can't seem to bring myself to do it. Good thing I have too many other projects to disctract me :D

GTOwagon, as you can tell so many of us are trying to convince you to keep the fenders but whatever you decide enjoy it! You got a special car there! Make sure if you don't use the fenders they don't get destroyed or something. Someone will need them.

    Thanks Rick, I appreciate it!

My 31 is a late one with the one piece bumpers and all my ads but one are American and show the blade bumpers and the Navajo caps, they must have had a few variations over the model year.

Nice to see another Pontiac getting done.

  5. Fenders are for boats and rockstars not hot rods. :D My 2 cents is to chop it and run the full hood.

Well had nothing to do today panhead isn't painted yet and wagon isn't back from getting floors done so I made some lowering blocks from a 4x4 and a couple ratchet straps later the coupe is now close to ride height in bacl I think it looks much better

nice progress, I have a 32 pontiac 5 window and also going with ohc 6 but slightly different route. I'm with you on no fenders, maybe if i had them id run them but I dont. Im going to run 86 vette suspension front and rear along with new tci 6x trans with tap shift and going to do forced induction on the ohc. Building custom frame and unsure if channeling or choping my car yet. Cant wait to see urs done.

Before you paint yourself into the 'channeled corner', imagine those stylish semi-elliptic springs hanging out the rear...

    I pity this Tin Indian.

Those PMD OHC6 parts look good. Just for reference on your chop, I just cut mine 11 days ago, 2.5" at the rear window and 3" at the windshield. Very happy with the result.[IMG]

    Rears are 265 / 75 on 15" x 8" wheels and the fronts are 215 / 75 on 15" x 6" wheels.

Rear tires stand a fraction under 30" tall.

I remember. Good to see some progress. I always look forward to updates and pics of yours and other late '20's / early '30's Pontiacs. Helps to keep me on pace with mine.

What size tires do you plan to use? My choice was based on filling the rear fenders but decided to go fenderless when PA inspection laws changed to allow it.
