I have a pair of electroline headlights that have been chromed or rechromed by the last owner I know they also repop them. is their any significant difference? I held a magnet to them and it stuck. is their any telltale signs of their authenticity?
A magnet stuck??? Originals are white metal or pot metal. I am guessing the repops are aluminum. Take a pic of the inside. I'll be able to tell if they are original or not. Do they have the lenses or cast over. there were some originals cast over but I'm pretty sure they are not repoping the glass lens. Clark
maybe my magnet was atracted to the chrome. they are cast over. inside they are full of chrome as well. give me a few minutes ill go take some pics.
It looks like those do not have the marker light on top. That is only the second set like that I've seen.
mine have Electroline and the number cast right into the bulb holding bezel router ring.. mine have lenses one is cracked my units are a bit dif inside as well they have more clips and screws.. If your have no markings of any kind any where ... well I dunno
I would say they are originals. There are a couple of clips that look like the originals. It's a shame it looks like whoever buffed them for plating was a little heavy handed and rounded off the deco lines. Clark
I think these are originals. I picked them up at an auction Saturday. A magnet sticks to them too and the original wiring harness is still attached. I think they are the real deal. They are definitely one cool set of headlights.
Hi Orange 54, intested in selling these lights? Know of another pair in good shape that might be for sale? Jim [email protected]
Oh ya, they make fake ones but one way to tell is the detail on the headlight rings. I do not even think the repop ones say electroline on the headlight ring like originals do. It's really night and day difference on the quality.
