Found a Job Rated Dodge with a poly-head engine in it today. It's got a one-piece windshield, if that's an indicator of the year. What engine displacement would this be? -Brad
I helped my buddy pull one out of a 55-56? dodge truck the day hurricane irene hit pa. when he got it home and looked up the numbers he said it was a 241. hope this helps.
Look for the 'use code' stamped in the block. First question is whether it has a separate valley cover or if the intake manifold seals everything. A separate valley cover indicates it is a Hemi-based poly and the id will be found on the top front of the block, ahead of the valley cover. The other will indicate an A series engine (like a 318) and the id will be stamped on the front of the block just below the head gasket on the driver side. The Hemi-based poly id numbers are on my web site. .
I went back today and forgot to look for the code on the engine. It's NOT a 318, that much I know (separate valley pan under the 2bbl intake) The block doesn't have the extended bellhousing, if that helps further. Thanks, -Brad
