looks like a salt bath. sorry for the failed trip

  3. In '68 it was a no day event. Rained the entire week, and I was too young to gamble. :(

Was there for Speed Week in '92 and about a foot of water on Sunday but I wouldn't have missed it for anything.

thats the way it was in 09 for USFRA event, but after driving so far, I drove through the salt slurry anyway. had to completely disassemble the car upon returning because of all the corrosion...ruined intake, valve covers, turn signal lights and all the hardware under the car. still had the time of my life. sorry you didn't get to run.

The salt flat cafe definitely has the best food in Wendover, the chili verde is quite good but my favorite is the Posole soup, but they only make it on Wed.
As a side note to this whole story, our truck broke down after coming off the salt, we tried for a few hours at the truck stop to diagnose the problem, but no luck, most likely electrical issue due the salt water, so we had her towed to a diesel mechanic in Salt Lake. The owner of the cafe, Marcelo, drove us to the salt lake airport and we flew home.
    Talk about customer service. Lol
What a cool guy, I will always be grateful to him.

Yea, I talked to one of the locals, and they said that due to the cold temps, the water that's out there won't dry up til next summer. Crazy huh ?
