Folks, This Model "A" drag car raced at OLD BRIDGE STADIUM in Central N.J. back in the early 1960's. The car ran a hopped up 4Cyl. engine. Can anyone I.D. the owner/driver of this baby ? thanks, Pete L.
fellas, We had photos of the above Model "A" on display at the 32nd Annual Nostalgia Summernationals /Old Time Drags yesterday at Raceway Park in N.J., and guess what ? Despite several "experts" close scruitny, the mystery remains unsolved !!! Here's another angle, can anyone I.D. the guys in the photo of the Model "A" ?
Todd, Your right, as far as it is an all out gasser with the full suspension treatment done on the car as well as excellent body work...the only really different part is the motor. An all out FOUR CYLINDER FORD !!!
That is a bad looking little piece, is it a ford? Whats driving the mag? I was looking at a similiar setup a couple weeks ago where the distr was driven striaght up thru the head in the middle of the engine - ahh, that was a 6cyl flattie but thats all i recall.
oj, It's a Model "A" Ford 4 cyl, I don't know what drives the mag. The car ran in the mid 1960's at Old Bridge Speedway in Old Bridge NJ.
Folks, It's getting down to the wire, the OLD BRIDGE STADIUM SPEEDWAY get together is this weekend (Oct. 8 & 9) does anyone have a clue at to this cars I.D. ? We'd really like to feature this car's photo along with a bit of history.

Pete - If you don't have any additional info, simply present what you have with a sign saying "REMEMBER ME?" and see who comes forward, maybe with a big sheet of poster board and a Sharpie for people to write what they remember and their contact info. I saw this work at a stock car show once when someone found a barn-find old Modified. My guess is that you'll have a LOT more info from the people onsite who are there to remember Old Bridge Stadium and the cars and people who made it what it was. Good luck!
FWIW, the mag is driven from the stock system...it is in the location of the standard A-B distributor, driven by spiral gears off center of cam.

Bakes, Yes, in fact we've done that exact thing, pics and a clip board for input at the Nostalgia Summer Nats/Funny Car Reunion this past summer at E-town, with no luck !!! We'll have the same set-up at the Old Bridge Stadium event this weekend. Thanks for the interest.
Folks, At last there is light at the end of the tunnel...we have some info that we will be cross checking in short order, we may have an I.D. on the Model "A" gasser pictured at the beginning of this thread.
Fellas, Steve Hassleback owned the Model "A" drag car. Double click on the photo, picture is on the lower right with caption...I'll try to get a larger pic posted
Just wondering, could this Bob Spaeth be the same person who was responsible for so many of the early plastic model car kits / designs. I once met him to discuss kit designs / injection mold making. The fellow I met has since passed on. Gary

I seem to remember that car on the cover of Rod and Custom. That was really one of the only magazines I liked much, so it must have been on/in an issue of R & C. Late 60s/early '70s.
