So, just this morning I was thinkin about getting back to work on my 41 willys project. This evening I wrecked while riding a skateboard on a mini ramp at our local youth center with some local kids. I broke my arm. not just my arm, but my elbo on my left arm. This sux because I am left handed. I am still going to do the 41 willys. I need to teach myself howto do metal work right handed. this is really gonna be a challenge. moral of the story, Skateboards are dangerous,
Damn! Now how are you going to fix my coupe when I win the lotto next week? In all seriousness glad it wasn't worse for you. I'm sure you will still be a better metal worker with your wrong hand than me on my best day.
I feel ya man. Broken anything is never fun and outs a stop to anything fun for a while. I've been in a wheelchair for months from broken bones. Going to highschool in a wheelchair is far from fun. Lol. Good luck! I hope you heel up quick
That sucks man, I know how you feel though. I managed to dislocate my Left Arm, last Friday, not only that but I fractured the Glenoid Socket of my Scapula........... That is popped out my arm and broke the socket that it sits into. All the 'bit's' that broke off managed to get into the joint so I need surgery to get it all out. Now if I move my arm its like a ratchet!! Well I hope yours heals quick mate and you get some work done on the Willy's!! Cheers, Doc.
Amby....dexterous, wheres that spell check thing gone. Thats what you need. Hope it heals quick, so we can watch Frankinwillys become a peach.
...I broke my wrist about 33 years ago on a "skateboard". we made the skateboards by ourselves then...no money and the parents would not give a cent for those things!! (we took the wheels off of our rollerblades and srewed them on a wooden board!!) the best part was that I was afraid to tell my dad in the evening. I went to bed, had pain like hell and the morning after I HAD to tell my mum...oh well: all the best for you!!
Work hard when the therapy starts... Broke my elbow too, they handed me a pain scrip and said use it as much as you can, then go to phys therapy an a week. Ended up with about 90% range of motion, sucks.
broke my elbow in '04. fortunately it was my right elbow, so i was free to be left handed. took a long time to get range of motion back completely. a year or more. it's a tough break. good luck becoming ambidextrous. it sounds like a good excuse.
Jim I hope you heal quick I sawed a cast off to ride my bike and still pay for it let it heal that boy of yours can now be your left hand man !!heck you give him a duece !!
I didn't know that activity was hand specific Jim, wishing you a speedy and painfree as possible recovery.
Ouch. Hope you heal fast. Did anybody get video of your crash? If so, maybe you could get on one of those crash and burn shows like "World's Dumbest".
Jim, don't worry too much. Concentrate and work hard on your re-hab and you can overcome almost anything, trust me I know!! Check this out....... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?do=discuss&group=&discussionid=13063 Doc.
You know, like the one on Back To The Future. The wooden board with little metal wheels that Marty rode on in the 50's.
Arn't you a little too "OLD" to be on a "Skateboard" anyway Sorry to hear about that man, hope you recover soon.
Quarter speed metal work by Sibley is still four times faster than the average human... Get better soon.
Broken bones ain't no fun,,when I was a kid I made my own skate board in industrial arts (wood shop) Most kids made them at that time,,I ended up breaking my wrist and sprang my ankle the same day. The last time I was on a skate board I was probably 18years old at 42 your a braver man than I am. Heal up fast my friend. HRP BTW,,this is the one I made in 62 and I don't think I'm gonna ride it! HRP
Bummer....sorry to hear that. But you will be surprised how much you can do with the other arm...just will take a bit longer... Good luck, Cheers......
