I just had my axle dropped for my 48 chevy pickup and I bolted it in last night (The truck has an awesome stance now). Naturally, the steering needs to be modified to accomodate the drop (4 inches). Before I begin to modify the steering, does anyone have any pointers? I'm assuming that I will need to heat and bend the steering arms down and shorten the tyrod. I'd appreciate any feedback before I fire up the torch! Thanks, -Rich
I'm not familiar with the chevy, but I'll give a stab at it from my experience (Ford) Figure out how far to bend the steering arms so your steering doesn't bind with frame and the other susp/steering parts. This is with full suspension travel and full steering side to side. I'm sure you're already aware of this, so I'll stop talking out of my ass.
